Announcements, Calendar and Email! announcementscalendaremail

This website is where you will find most of what you need to know with regard to classes and activities at Quantum and where you will find announcements from your coach and instructor.

Announcements Page is where specifics and details for upcoming events are posted, or other general announcements from me to all students and/or parents.

Calendar
is where you will find the daily schedule of classes and performances throughout the year AND scheduled cancellations due to holidays and activities held by other groups in the auditorium.  Some of these will be posted for the entire year.  Others will be posted as little as a month in advance.  Open Gyms will often be posted with very little advance notice.

Emails
will be sent for school correspondence and especially individual correspondence to you including but not limited to account information and emergency class cancellations.  You are required to use email as a Quantum parent.  Please check it every 48 hours or so.  If you are commuting from out of town it is a good idea to check it before driving to your class.

I hope you enjoy the site and especially that you

Have a great year of gymnastics and dance!

Email Email man

Email addresses are required of all students’ parents or legal guardians. This is how you will receive communications that are specific to you or your student, including information concerning merchandise orders, individual class changes, account information/statements and class cancellations.  If you live out of town, you should check your email before driving to Alma, especially if the weather is questionable.  : )

If you do not have access to the internet let me know. Or if you have access to the internet but do not have email, I will be happy to help you get started. : )

Observation
observation

Because of distraction, observation is discouraged.   An occasional visit from parents or dropping in the last 10 minutes of class is welcome. While parents are present they are asked not to coach or teach their kids during classes. It is distracting to the student, distracting to the coach and dangerous to the athletes. (Also disrespectful.)   Please regard our school as you would any other school.  Give us the same respect you would your child's public school teacher by not 'helping us teach' their class.   Students are asked not to bring friends or siblings to watch class without first asking Kathy.  Only gymnasts who are insured through Quantum are allowed to take part in any physical activity or be out on the floor.  No observers or non-students are allowed on the floor.

Attendance (and how it applies to Tuition)  Snow plow

Tuition is the same each month regardless of attendance!  Missed classes may be made up.  Gymnasts are offered 36 classes for the 9-month fall-spring session. They often receive more. This averages 4 classes per monthly payment. Kathy will arrange make-up days or classes for any canceled classes or snow days if needed, and will also offer Open Gyms to students.  Arrange with Kathy to make-up any classes you have missed.  Students are not charged for practices and/or rehearsals.

More about attendance, number of classes per year, snow days and cancellations due to conflicts in our building . . . Watch the Calendar!

There are at least if not more than 36 class days for each weekday on the calendar. Many months have 5 (Tuesdays for example) making up for the months that have only 3 such as November and December. This would allow us a few snow days. However, there will be activities in the auditorium such as the Alma High School Prom in April for which we will be asked to cancel classes.  I know these are an inconvenience, but they are the conditions on which we may use the building. You are still scheduled more than 36 classes in spite of these conflicts.  Open Gyms will be offered which may be used as additional make-up classes. Watch the calendar and email if you are interested in open gyms.  There will be extra practices before performances at no extra charge. You can keep track of holidays, closings and activities on the Quantum calendar on this website.

It can be difficult for kids when they miss workouts or classes.  Even two absences in a short period of time can make it hard for gymnast to “catch up" on what we covered while she was absent. Quantum classes follow a set curriculum and new things are taught each class period. Gymnasts are taught subject material in the areas of skill training, conditioning, safety, dance, sportsmanship : ) and choreography prior to shows. (not necessarily in that order) I try to touch on new aspects of each issue every class period. I cover as much in each class as I can, and I like to hope our program is progressive while staying FUN.

Students missing 5 classes/workouts or more, may be offered the opportunity to come to a different class until they catch up with their current class.

Bad Weather              Throwing snowballs   Winter   Rolling snow ball

If schools are closed in Alma due to bad weather or roads, Quantum will also be closed.

Closings will be posted on our website on the home page by 8:00 am that morning.with details on the Announcements page.  You may also call the following number for Alma school closing information: 308-928-2401. I promise to be prompt at taking these closings off before the next day this year!

Once a decision to close Quantum is made in the morning it will not be reversed later in the day even if the weather improves due to short notification time.
However, if Quantum is open in the morning and weather conditions deteriorate as the day progresses, Quantum may be forced to close for your safety due to ice, blizzards etc.  Watch your email if the weather looks bad, and if you are driving from out of town, please check your email before heading out.

Annual Production

stage light        stage light        stage light

Each spring Quantum Gymnastics & Dance holds an annual production at The Tassel Performing Arts Center in Holdrege, Nebraska usually the first weekend in June.  Costumes are purchased and choreography is learned by all students.  It is an all school production where students are offered the opportunity to show their parents, friends and community what they have learned over the year.

This year 2009-1010 our show will follow the theme of
Beauty and the Beast.

Work on this year's production has begun!  The show date planned is June 5th with Dress Rehearsal on June 4th. We are currently working on staging, sets, costumes and choreography.  Some classes have begun learning choreography and others will begin this coming week, January 25th with the rest to follow soon.  Costumes are being ordered now and others will be ordered as soon as possible to ensure availability.  A costume fee of $ 40.00 is charged to all students and is the same per student per class.  Students are allowed to keep the costumes following the production.  There is no "recital fee" or "production fee," but admission may be charged to help defray the costs of production.

More information regarding our show will be posted here, in our Announcements page, in emails and on the calendar.  If you have any questions, just email!

I will keep you updated throughout the year of news and activities involving gymnasts and dancers on this website and via email.   Let me know suggestions or ideas you have by visiting our "suggestion box" on the Contact Page.  : )  Also please let me know if anything on this site is not working properly. : )
